OAK – Design Miami.Basel 2022

For its inaugural participation in Design Miami/Basel 2022, Guelfucci Gallery published a dedicated catalogue to accompany its OAK exhibition.

​

The exhibition was dedicated to the oak tree, a symbol of Laurent Guelfucci’s family heritage in Corsica. The oak leaf, carved into the Guelfucci villa’s doorway, represents resilience and is reflected in the family motto: "I change only when I die."

A favored material among Art Deco designers, oak was central to the exhibition, inspired by an oak box designed by Jean-Michel Frank for Adolphe Chanaux in 1935. This special presentation explored the significance of the oak tree in the work of renowned designers such as Jean-Michel Frank, Jean Royère, Eyre de Lanux, André Groult, Jacques Adnet, Hermann Hoger, Max Ingrand, and others.Through this selection, the gallery highlights the timeless artistry of these designers.
